Nursery Rhymes for War

I

You soldiers believe the silliest thing
thinking we owe you a hospital bed.
But life's a bitch. Of thee no one will sing.

Saving us don't get you no World Series ring.
So you're depressed, seeing things, fucked-up head.
You soldiers believe the silliest thing

like doctors, surgeons, cute nurses are waiting.
Sorry, mistakes were made, your leader said
but life's a bitch. Of thee no one will sing

songs of arms, both gone or both in a sling.
Didn't read the small print, so easily read.
You soldiers believe the silliest thing

like there's help getting jobs, readjusting,
like we take care of our own live and dead.
Sure life's a bitch. Of thee no one will sing

thank you, you saved our nice way of living
in our gated country. O Stupid Dickhead,
you soldiers believe the silliest thing.
Sure life's a bitch. Of thee no one will sing.

II

Where are the war heroes
those without ears and nose
those with arms not replaced
those that are broken-faced?
Why else the empty sleeve
the tubed bag the shit to receive
the blind eye needing no Kleenex
the limbless squirming for sex?

The First Couple prance from the plane
claiming they make Abel love Cain;
problems, it's all the work of Satan's pawn.
The First Dog lolls on the presidential lawn.
