From Barishal to Briarwood:
Bengali Poetry in English

Prabir Das (1957-)

Homeless No. 9
The talk is about how the birth-moment was,
It is not a soft pillow under the breast
The talk about the birth-moment is gradually moving
Beyond the stones, leaving the iron and steel

While removing the garbage from the drainpipe
Of unbearable life, comes the desire to love
More of the unearthly past
And just then cursing the birth-moment
I search for its correct address,
My origin is floating
On the surrounding water of satisfaction.
