About the Guest EditorNicholas Birns lives in New York City, where he teaches literature at Eugene Lang College, The New School University . His teaching specialities include Victorian and modern fiction and literary theory. His current book project, under contract to Broadview Press, involves contemporary literary theory. A Companion to Australian Literature since 1900, co-edited with Rebecca McNeer, appeared from Camden House in 2007; Understanding Anthony Powell, a comprehensive study of the work of the major twentieth-century British novelist, appeared in 2004. he has contributed to many periodicals including the New York Times Book Review, Midstream, Arizona Quarterly, The Hollins Critic, Barrow Street, and Studies in Romanticism. He is the editor of Antipodes: A North American Journal of Australian Literature and has held visiting fellowships in Australia and Sweden. He currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Council of Editors of Learned Journals. |
